Indian Newspapers - quite a different topic for me to be writing a blog on! Not sure if anyone would like it... not sure if anyone would read this... . However, I write because this is a better way to put my feelings...

 I am sure all of you are aware of in what phase/state the current Indian newspaper journalism is in. All the national level newspapers are a complete waste of money for the buyer. I am sure you would agree the news in the newspapers are pathetic.... The head lines are about the Bachchans... the cold war between Jaya  and Rekha in the parliament....Aishwarya and her baby... Esha deol and her marriage....Strippping off for cricket and football for "Whosoever Pandey".... Man...there would be other important news... could our newspapers put more attention to those? Why does the news like - "PM, Sonia to visit Assam as flood toll climbs to 61" be on a page 7??!! That's a NEWS... flood hit Assam should be on the front page... people needs to know... Government needs to know. People are dying there.... flood is not a Over-night party!

 "Satyameva Jayate" would be a national newspaper heading.. could anyone make me understand why? Ain't the issues raised in that show known to everyone.... why are those issues not in the newspapers??? Why do we need a show to project those issues and than have newspapers bring the show into limelight? Or is it that just because it's a Amir Khan show.. so it deserves to be a headline?

 What Aishwarya has named her child... how the kid looks like... or what they do in their bedrooms... might be interesting "chaat" news to be on a page 8 or page 9.... definitely not a page 1 news... people who want to read them would definitely turn pages and look for them. However, the kid getting raped and murdered... that deserves to be on the starting pages... people need to be know... people need to be aware of such things... people cannot and should not be turning a blind eye to all these... As the e-papers say today - Rape biggest crime trend in India: Govt data. Pay attention to that...

There would be many more stories which deserve attention... however I am not a journalist... You would know your task better....Newspapers are a powerful medium... please use it effectively to bring the truth... the bitter truth to the people.

Axomia - the cultural heart!

Axomia or Assamese as we are popularly know as in English! Axom has a very rich culture. Not many people outside the state are aware of the beauty and culture of this pragmatic section of people. Here I mention some distinctive terms associated with Asom and Axomia people, in general!
