Over, it is!

Too much everything is bad. My mom used to tell us this often. And over the years, I have learn that its true. Be it too much of goodness or evil. Too much of light makes us appreciate darkness. And when lights are off for much longer time,we learn to appreciate the light! Thank heavens, he maintained a sync in everything!! IPL - the Indian Premier League, professional T20 cricket league started way back in 2007. It started with eight teams. IPL is the attended by a vast number of people and is ranked sixth among all the sports league. Such is the craze of IPL that people even follow it on other platforms like youtube! IPL is mostly a money-making union! The organizers make money, the players make money, the channels make money. Who loses money really? The people, the common people. After all people pay to see the matches! Apart from them everyone makes money. MS Dhoni, the highest paid player in 2007-08. Price paid was $1.25 million. This numbers kept increasing over t...

The cricket crazy nation!

Image
The title is self-explanatory, isn't it? We belong to this nation! Cricket is the festival here and the cricketers, God! Funny, but true. This blog of mine come up as I came across an article comparing the then and now captains of the team. I found it absolutely absurd. How can we compare two different persons, two different teams of two different times? The game of cricket is such deep rooted in our veins that even if we do not like it, we cannot really pass by a TV where the live score is flashing! Or can we? No. We, well most of my generation, have literally grown up with the craze for this game. We hardly played any other sport. Live match means we used to be glued to our television sets. This, every single day! I was such a fanatic that I once even asked my headmistress to declare a holiday because India was there playing the quarter finals! That was way back, maybe in March, 1996! Good old days. We loved the game. We cherished the victories of the team and mourn...

The Gentleman's Game... Or is it?

Only on Saturday, we saw Team India defeating Team Pakistan in the league match of T20 Cricket World Cup 2016. And yesterday in yet another match, we saw Team New Zealand showing the doors to Pakistan! The point is not being the winner or the loser. We win some and lose some. But Cricket has always been known as a Gentleman's Game. But is it really so now? Didn't the captain, the very Captain of the Team Pakistan behaving in a "Not Very Gentleman's Way"! In the matches against both these teams, we saw The captain commenting on the crowd. Saying the crowd supporting them. Yes, why not Mr. Captain? It's not a big deal, really. We see crowd cheering. In every nation, there are always supporters of the opponent party too. So what? When India play South Africa in their land, we do have people in the crowd supporting India! So what? It's in the spirit of the game. Not in the political interest that the support is shown! Maybe people from Kashmir, Kolkata, T...

In the spirit of the game...

I couldn't really watch Asia Cup finals yesterday. Specially the India batting. I was down with viral fever and immune system just gave way! :( However, I still remember that when my spouse sneaked into the bed after watching the match, I didn't fail to ask him "Who won?" To which he gloriously replied "We"!! Not that I had doubts in my mind of who would win. Infact it was my confidence on the team that made me feel "It's okay to retire to bed. My team would do it right!". Today morning as we were discussing the match over our morning cup of tea. My hubby's eyes were glittering as he spoke of MSD. Indeed why not. He hit couple of sixes and a boundary. He made 20. He was the man who finished the match in style!! A sixer to seal the victory and with that the mouths of all the fans of the rival team who had circulated images of his severed head. Frankly I found that move very cheap. I mean I understand you love your team. I understand y...

One man team?

Today disastrous defeat in the hands of a very immature Sri Lanka team should work as a eye-opener for team India! Sri Lanka played well from the very first ball. And India's performance, well what should I say? The batting order collapsed like the 'tin-filled' walls in Taiwan! Okay I understand the comparison was pathetic. But didn't our team play really ... bad? Is the team slowly starting to become a 'One-Man Team' again? Previously if Sachin Tendulkar didn't play well, India would lose. And now that 'one-man' being Virat Kohli?? Why the likes of Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, S Dhawan, A Rahane, etc. not able to 'de-ghumake'?? So much talent in the team and still losing match after match. No, I haven't forgotten the Australia series. But let's get some facts. Team needs to buckle up. World cup is lost. We have to keep the T20 World Cup at least. All the best team.

Cricket Team India Crumple - once again!

India versus Australia matches going on. For any Cricket lover it was supposed to be a delight - a treat to the eyes! For Australia fans, yes it was. Australia outplayed India in all the spheres; bowling, batting and fielding, of course. For hundreds of thousands of India fans like me, we had to be satisfied with the superb efforts put in by Australia, and clap a few times for them! They really showed some team spirit and class. The beginning of the tour none of the team India fans must have thought of such humiliating defeats. No, at least I didn't. Not a single win in 4 matches. Oh common, we deserve more. We have a good team. We have the greats of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ravinder Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan... All the 11 member in fact. Or wait, was it that I was expecting more? Maybe. :( Have been following cricket since such small age that I do not even remember when! All I do have vague memory of sitting along with my father and brother and cheering for the team. We grew up...
