Cricket Team India Crumple - once again!

Image
India versus Australia matches going on. For any Cricket lover it was supposed to be a delight - a treat to the eyes! For Australia fans, yes it was. Australia outplayed India in all the spheres; bowling, batting and fielding, of course. For hundreds of thousands of India fans like me, we had to be satisfied with the superb efforts put in by Australia, and clap a few times for them! They really showed some team spirit and class. The beginning of the tour none of the team India fans must have thought of such humiliating defeats. No, at least I didn't. Not a single win in 4 matches. Oh common, we deserve more. We have a good team. We have the greats of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Ravinder Jadeja, Shikhar Dhawan... All the 11 member in fact. Or wait, was it that I was expecting more? Maybe. :( Have been following cricket since such small age that I do not even remember when! All I do have vague memory of sitting along with my father and brother and cheering for the team. We grew up

Expire hogaya!

This is funny and interesting at the same time. Me and my toddler were watching the India Vs Australia cricket match. And playing along too with her games - Pretend play. So it was a cooking session going on and she told she would put some salt into the dish. All of a sudden she picked up a small packet and said "Expire hogaya"!!! I was like shocked and surprised to hear those words from her. She is not even 3 and uttering words like " Expire hogaya". I couldn't smile at her language usage. But I also wanted to know why she used those words and hence I asked "What does it mean?" She was instantaneous to reply. It means "you need to throw it away"! Amazed I was!! Frankly I am proud of her vocabulary. This is obviously not the first time she used such words. Her words and phrases uses and exactly at the right time never fails to leave me bewildered! I mean such small age and such a grip over language already! Amazing. I am sure at her

Language Intolerance

Image
Born and brought up in Asom, my father always used to tell us " Its good to learn more languages"! And grew up with the same belief. I still believe the same. I for myself, know around 6 Indian languages and 2 foreign! So that's not bad I assume! I find it very funny to see social network full of hatred messages on language. For heaven's sake, language? I mean why? Don't we have enough issues on hand? Can we instead bother about the other more important concerns the country is facing? Can we think of India first and then of the regions? Well, I assume not. With the spirit I get to see in the social networking sites, the hatred people pour out towards languages not their own, is simply pathetic. India is definitely in a sorry state of affairs if we are fighting such petty matters. What is language? In border terms, language is just the ability to communicate. People used to communicate in sign languages earlier. Good that languages were developed later on

New Year resolution!

Well okay, I know its almost 12 days into the new year and my article is little late. But let me be little late then never! So new year resolution. What is it? What's the hue and cry over it. What is so special about the new year resolution?? A resolution is a firm decision to do or not do something, in vague terms! We all believe and hope the new year would bring along the happiness, success, love; whatever we could not attain the earlier year. So why we wait for the new year. Why can' t we just start. Just take resolution for good, anytime? Well we can. We can and we keep taking decisions everyday. But its only the mind, which helps us keep through the decision. So my new year resolution? Well, I don't make one. I know what I want and what I need. I stick to my beliefs. If I think something needs to be changed, I do it. I don't wait to do it next year. After all who knows, what tomorrow brings in! Some resolutions I have always kept doing are - be myself, not

Pathankot - a tragedy!

Image
This is a topic quite close to my heart. Something that sabotage my inner self. I am sure many of you out there must be feeling the same. Terrorism - Terrorism in a broader sense is any act which could cause panic and terror amongst the people. It features political objectives, in general. Power, money, religion are different reasons why terror activities are continuing in the world. Terror activities in India are a nuisance. Every year we have too many innocent Indians being killed in terror incidents. Not to mention the Defence personnel! The Pathakot incident came as a surprise, like all other trepidation incidents. Unexpected and unfortunate. The incident started on the 2nd of January, 2016. As per reports a heavily armed group attacked the Pathakot Airforce station, which is a part of the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force. Oblivious of the attack, and surprise that it was, seven of our defence personnel laid down their lives to defend our country. Its said

Another milestone...

We started today just as usual. As me and my hubby were sipping tea and my toddler was playing around, we started discussing about her schooling! This has been a discussion topic for quite some time now. Since October to be precise! But as usual, we were not able to make up our mind that she is ready for school. This time it was no different. We had been thinking and thinking. We bought her school bag, bottle, even a lunch box. But, the main thing was not yet done. Our mind was not made. We were just not able to think that she is good to go. Don't the kids always appear too young! Anyways, today I thought let's just give it a try. I asked my hubby to make the admissions atleast. We could send her as we like. But then I though let's try it today! Let's just take her along and see how she reacts. My hubby was frowning. He told don't be too haste! But I was all done. I knew if we think too much it would only be delayed. So let it be done. Let it be today. I gave

Alwar - the princely place!

Image
The lovely calm city of Alwar lies just about 127kms from Gurgaon. Formerly the capital of the princely state of Alwar, Alwar district is now a part of Rajasthan. British pronounced the name as Ulwar but it was again renamed to Alwar later on! Camels on the way Alwar is renowned for the olive plantations. The beautiful place is scantily populated. The roads and alleys are not very crowded as compared to the rest of India. The place gives a distinct sense tranquility! Typical village life We selected Alwar as the place for our New Year celebrations! And there we hit the trail! We started at our own ease on the 31st and reached there by 12.30pm. We would have reached early hadn't our gps gone demented! Anyways, we were happy to be there. We had our lunch and got some power nap. And there we were, ready for the commemoration! In one word, Stunning! Going back to Alwar, its as amazing as our start to 2016! But let me not write a long script here. And, just point

Assamese - the language and its dialects

The rich state of Asom sees mainly Assamese being spoken by the people here. Assamese in fact has two main dialects, namely Kamrupia and Goalpariya. This is just a brief on both the dialects of Assamese language.
