Moha Bhoirob Mondir

The temple of Moha Bhoirab does not require any introduction. It stands as an identity of Tezpur. Direction are shown in regards to this temple in Tezpur!


Every time I visit Tezpur, I religiously visit Moha Bhoirob Mondir. My visit to Tezpur cannot be complete without it. This time too I stole an hour to be here.


Moha Bhoirob, as the name indicates, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Tezpur was ruled by King Bana earlier and he was a great devotee of the lord. Its believed he used to offer his prayers to the lord in this very temple.

Moha Bhoirob Mondir has a 'linga' which is said to be one of the tallest linga  in Asia!


The temple is renovated now. The main linga remains as it is. The interiors of the temple are now modernised though. But the peace of mind we attain here is beyond comparison.

Axomia - the cultural heart!

Axomia or Assamese as we are popularly know as in English! Axom has a very rich culture. Not many people outside the state are aware of the beauty and culture of this pragmatic section of people. Here I mention some distinctive terms associated with Asom and Axomia people, in general! Bihu - "Otikoi Senehor Mugare Mekhela, Otikoi Senehor Maku, Tatukoi Senehor Rongali Bihuti, Napaati Kenekoi Thaku" No doubts when we hear the word Bihu, only Asom comes to our minds. Assamese - the language and its dialects

The rich state of Asom sees mainly Assamese being spoken by the people here. Assamese in fact has two main dialects, namely Kamrupia and Goalpariya. This is just a brief on both the dialects of Assamese language. Kamrupia - The Kamrupia dialect is the oldest and the very first ancient Aryan literary language spoken by the people residing in the Barak valley. The Kamrupia dialect in itself has four main dialects! The four dialects that comprises the Kamrupia dialect are - Barpetiya, Nalbariya, Kamrupi and South Kamrupi.  Barpetia - Spoken mainly by the people from Barpeta district, Barpetia dialect is used by a large section of people in Assam.  Nalbaria - The Nalbaria dialect is mostly spoken by the people of the Nalbari district of Assam.  Kamrupia - this dialect is spoken by the major segment of people in Assam.
