Parental Child abuse - physical and mental!

Image
Was just talking with one of my best buddy.. She and me almost share similar thoughts on motherhood and life in general. We share almost all our problems, happiness, motherhood challenges, trifles with our parents, husband issues! Literally everything! Today too, we started with our complaining episodes! She was over annoyed with her mother and interestingly, me too! Mom - seems like they are trying to rule our lives. Directly, or indirectly; they try to impose their thoughts on us. Whatever we do is always wrong way of doing it. Why? I have been married for 7 years now and my friend for a decade and still this undue interference of the moms in our respective lives is just too much! Or is it? Today she told me her mom just got off the dining table and left her home! Her annoyance - was it right on her mother's part to act so? While discussing all the emotional meltdowns and silent treatments that our moms treat us with, we bumped into the very fragile topic of child abuse. Chi...

Life!

Image
The strokes of light that shine so bright On the window panes and to great height. I see the generium - In shades of pink The sight of that beauty makes me forget to blink! The multi storey buildings look like shacks None able to see the bridges and the cracks; What's this life on top of the world Giving a semblance that everything  is swirled! Not riches but health Is all that I wish as wealth! The happiness of my family Being my gold, I agree!! Nothing more is any important  No, I do not want the two faced serpents. Just because few things did go wrong, Doesn't mean its an end to my life's beautiful song; The heart that lightens only with love My spouse, he is my dove! No matter the way, easy or tough We show life, we have love enough! To shove our path And embrace my wrath We two can together Beat the feather and the weather! Shielding and growing our little one Make her strong to face the sun For her, we ha...

Rains!

Image
Bangalore rains Bangalore rains The drops that pour and cause a pain! The shilling sound of the wind Thanking heavens, my apartment is still pinned! The balcony is dripping and so are my plants Poor little sweethearts, they got more of than the desired grants!  My child is forced to play inside Her hopes to hop on the ground has all, but dried! The grey clouds and no sigh of light This is our very disgusting plight!! Okay, let it be, Lets not give a damn Mamma and daughter can have some water yam!! We two can play kitchen kitchen The weather is cold, lets cook some pepper chicken! Also, we could play makeup makeup But for that, my love, you need to first wake up!! The animals, domestic and wild Are waiting to play with you, my adorable child! Mommy have jotted down this half-witted poem That makes even the clouds get-goin!

I hit a century!

Image
Yes, I just did! 😄 I feel so ecstatic! Its been a long journey. Of varied emotions - happy, thrills, sad, lame, egnited, cold! And with me, you have read them all and helped me grow! Started small, very small way back in 2011! And hardly four or five articles in the following years. Until last year and this. I have been writing my feelings, all put into words here in my blog. Today while I jot down my heartiest thanks, I feel overwhelmed at the thought that no matter what there is someone who is reading them! I'm just a starter. Not an expert writer, not a master of vocabulary! But I manage to put across my thoughts, to the reader, I am sure about that! While I lay here beside my sleeping daughter of four, I realize many of my articles have been based on this soul! She has been my inspiration. And so also is my spouse! Right from the days of pregnancy, when I was carrying her, I started an emotional bond with her. It was my first pregnancy and hence I went by the books! Obv...

Jeans in India!!!

Image
Topic seems little funny, even to me while I sit here to write about it! We get to see men, women and children wearing jeans pants and they are everywhere! But this very unimportant thing is a major source of controversy in India, not only today but since ages! I love wearing jeans - pants, jackets, even knickers! And over the years I have just become confident of wearing whatever I deem appropriate! I have never followed the rule book. I must have been the first one to wear knickers and jeans in my small town, Tezpur! There would be taunts directed at me but I never cared about them! I was born to live my life, not to entertain someone else's wishes! And so I grew up. That was in 1990. Now it's 2017 and believe me, things have not changed a bit for the girls in India! Even now, in the twenty second century, the girls/ladies wearing jeans are looked upon as threats. Threats to the very rich thousand years old culture, to the ethics in the society, to the rule book and more...

Racism in India!

Image
Yes, Indians are racists! Though they would cry out loud when someone in a foreign country try to act racial against them! But believe me, the same people would be found to be most biased and intolerant for even other fellow Indians! I am from the North East side of the Indian territory. And believe me none other than us must have faced more partiality from our very own counterparts in the rest on India! And when this, its no joke! Although in looks, I do not have small eyes, typical with people of the North East India. Hence I have fared well in most of the places I stayed at. I first faced racist comment when one of my extended family member of the Punjabi clan I am married to, asked me where I am from. The expression on her face and her words "Oh! I thought so!" pierced through my heart. All this, because we belong to a land they do not understand where! We seem to be aliens to them. No matter I am much qualified than most of them literally are. No matter I look bette...

A wicked sister in law!

Life is testing us all the time. For me life had been quite a ride till now. But the one after my marriage had been the most dramatic! My in-laws, specially the sister-in-law (SiL) and mother-in-law (MiL). After having suffered a lot mentally,  I have now almost successfully learnt how to keep safe distance from them and keep conversations as minimal as necessary. Thank Heavens we do not have to stay together. As a new bride I observed that the SiL was very interfering. When I say that I literally mean she wanted to come over with us to our short honeymoon! No, she was not a preschooler to not understand. She was good damn old enough to be a mother herself! Frankly,  I was very irritated. I remember during that time my spouse had taken a new job and hence he was not getting paid immediately and I had managed everything singlehandedly! No its not the money that I want to talk about here. Its the SiL. She wanted extra share of monthly pocket money, now that I am earning too! ...
