Annual Day at School - Chrysalis High

Image
School life - always an experience for the students. My pre-schooler is in her 7th month of Junior Kindergarten. And believe me, the journey had been a roller-coaster ride! Anyways, leaving all the details of how and what happened when in school, let me just focus the shift to the Annual Day function observed yesterday. The kids, I must mention, had put up a show to remember! The journey of annual day started with the teachers and students, working in sync to do various dances, etc. It started being fun for the kids. They of course enjoyed the dances sessions over the daily doses of writings and spellings! Not all though enjoy dance! It was quite boring for some, observation classes for some where they would just observe what the other kids are doing! Excitement for some, who love dancing! I can only imagine the hard work put on by the teachers too! Their perseverance was obvious. Teaching groups of 30 kids to dance in co-ordination is quite a task, a herculean task! But they ...

Winning over people - specially the in-laws!

Marriage is game we play blind-folded! The people we know else otherwise tend to be very different when they become your spouse and/or in-laws! More so in a love-marriage, where we give-in to our hormones and take decisions real quick. Mine, was a love-marriage and with it came host of other problems, I was not prepared to or looking forward to deal with! Marriage happened. Spouse is great, till date! But inlaws, problems started real quick. I always felt my mother-in-law never had a liking towards me. That from the very first day I met her! However, ever since I got married, I tried hard to win her over. Things get more difficult when you also have a sister-in-law! One, who would keep poking the MIL's head every single day. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Mine was those types. Every update in Facebook, my SIL made sure she read it out to my MIL. Every single picture of mine, she would show! The spice part, I'm sure you understand! I am someone who had been brought up in a...

Footprints on my heart!

Father father, o dear father About us, you did bother! Mommy, brother and of course, me How did you leave us here without thee? Its been years, and I am grown In heart but, I am your clone! I know you stop to look down at us.. If not, I would surely make a fuss. Sixteen years and still I am not fine... Oh yes! Even today over your death I whine! I remember your walk, your laughter and talk Its written with blood, not with chalk!  The bond we shared, of hatred and love, I am sorry pa, I could never be your angelic dove! The moment you left us for the heavenly abode To the Almighty's wishes that we all bowed Something in me, stopped forever That could grow or beat, never! The vacant space, the chamber in my heart Did we really have to stay apart? That bed in the hospital was small and scary, I still remember how we did carry. Overnight I lost my dad, Tell me pa, was I really that bad? I was not ready for your depart, From the beginning,...

Raising my kid!

Image
A child brings in immense joy, responsibilities, tantrums, along with them! With every tear that they could ever give a parent, they bring in countless happiness! When I state tear, it could not be meaning a drop of water from the eyes! It could just mean the sleepless nights, the pain, or anything. Isn't it? I am sure you all agree. I have a four year old. And I love her. Her hands around my neck, her wet kisses and her saying "I love you, mommy", is enough to make my day real good! She is well raised. She would keep away her toys, helps me around the house, brushes her own teeth, compassionate and kind. But still there are things I like doing for her. Like carrying her out of the door every day when she is ready for school upto the elevator. I like carrying her bag or her, when she arrives from school! I love feeding her food. So what? Big deal? I don't think so! This comes in since I was just reading about someone literally pointing out if parents should ac...

Parental Child abuse - physical and mental!

Image
Was just talking with one of my best buddy.. She and me almost share similar thoughts on motherhood and life in general. We share almost all our problems, happiness, motherhood challenges, trifles with our parents, husband issues! Literally everything! Today too, we started with our complaining episodes! She was over annoyed with her mother and interestingly, me too! Mom - seems like they are trying to rule our lives. Directly, or indirectly; they try to impose their thoughts on us. Whatever we do is always wrong way of doing it. Why? I have been married for 7 years now and my friend for a decade and still this undue interference of the moms in our respective lives is just too much! Or is it? Today she told me her mom just got off the dining table and left her home! Her annoyance - was it right on her mother's part to act so? While discussing all the emotional meltdowns and silent treatments that our moms treat us with, we bumped into the very fragile topic of child abuse. Chi...

Life!

Image
The strokes of light that shine so bright On the window panes and to great height. I see the generium - In shades of pink The sight of that beauty makes me forget to blink! The multi storey buildings look like shacks None able to see the bridges and the cracks; What's this life on top of the world Giving a semblance that everything  is swirled! Not riches but health Is all that I wish as wealth! The happiness of my family Being my gold, I agree!! Nothing more is any important  No, I do not want the two faced serpents. Just because few things did go wrong, Doesn't mean its an end to my life's beautiful song; The heart that lightens only with love My spouse, he is my dove! No matter the way, easy or tough We show life, we have love enough! To shove our path And embrace my wrath We two can together Beat the feather and the weather! Shielding and growing our little one Make her strong to face the sun For her, we ha...
