North East India - the untouched jewel!

Some interesting facts about the North East of India.

North East is a topic very close to my heart. Having born in Assam, I have these special feeling about the entire region. I put down few things about my region.

1) Arunachal Pradesh - Known as the "Land of Rising Sun", Arunachal Pradesh receives the first sunlight in India! One can have the most amazing views of the Himalayan peaks, the white snow, 9 rivers that flow through it, the sub-tropical jungles and the breath-taking high altitude meadows. Hence also knows as  the ’Last Shangri La on Earth’!


2) Assam - Assam has the highest tea production in India. Majuli, the largest river island in the world, is also a part of Assam! Not to forget our very own, the endangered one horn rhinos. Assam is the home to these species! Assam also is the proud owner of the first oil industry in India! Yes, Digboi it is!!

3) Tripura  - Something is very special about this place called Tripura! People are literate here. Not to stop at that, Tripura has the highest literacy rate in India. Yes, Kerala is no more the top state in literacy! Tripura it is!

4) Mizoram - Mizoram is an amazing place. Honesty of people here cannot be compared to any other place. This is the only place where you would find " Shops without attendants" or locally, 'Nghah lou dawr'. Also, Mizoram is the Third most literate state in India after Kerala.

5) Meghalaya - The "Rock Capital of India", Meghalaya enjoys the highest rainfall in India. Cherrapunji, the capital, is also known as the " Scotland of the East". Such is the captivating beauty of the place! The town of "Mawlynnong" in Meghalaya was awarded the cleanest in Asia! Shouldn't we be proud of that? The Shillong Golf Link is the second largest golf course in Asia!

6) Manipur - Need we say something about Manipur? Greats of MC Mary Kom were born here! It also has the Keibul Lamjao National Park which is the only floating Loktak park in the world.

7) Sikkim - Sikkim is the proud owner of the world's highest altitude ATM! Sikkim, like other parts of North East India, is blessed with natural flora and fauna. One can see the snow peaked Himalayas here all throughout the year!

8) Nagaland - The smallest state in India, Tripura had diverse culture. Nagaland has some 16 tribes living peacefully here. Nagaland has many Defence personnel.

The North East part of India has rich culture, apart from the very beautiful, flora and fauna of the region!
