The city of Nawabs, as they call it, Lucknow is the capital of the largest state in India, Uttar Pradesh! The multicultural city of Lucknow flourished as a North Indian cultural and artistic hub, and the power of nawabs in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is also the centre of Shia Islam in India with the highest Shia Muslim population in India being here in Lucknow!

10. Tonality - The City of Nawabs has people speaking  in a distinct tone which no one else can compete with! The patronizing is so peculiar and distinctive that one could recognize it even in a crowd!

9. Hazratganj - Hazratganj or Ganj as it's popularly called, is a shopping destination in the heart of  the city! Always crowded, this area now has been renovated and got a better look. Founded in 1827, the then Nawab Nasiruddin Haider introduced China Market and Kaptaan Bazaar for selling foreign goods. The name was changed to HazratGanj in 1842 after the name of Nawabs Amjad Ali Shah who was popularly know as "Hazrat".

8. State Museum - The State Museum in Lucknow holds heart to a huge collection​ of Awadh arts and contemporary objects of Awadh. It's also has some of the very antiques excavated from surrounding places. On today's date it also houses an Egyptian mummy dating back to 1000 BC!! It has a wooden sarcophagus too!

7. Dilkusha kothi - The few towers and walls remains of eighteenth century house built in the English baroque style in the quiet Dilkusha area. The very beautiful gardens remains and still attract visitors!

6. Ambedkar memorial Park - Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Prateek Sthal or the Ambedkar memorial Park founded in 1995, is a sandstone garden! All of the sandstone was bought from Jaipur. The cost of making this garden was a whooping 7 billion​ rupees!

5. Chattar manzil - The umbrella palace or the  chattar manzil was a palace of the Awadh rulers. It stands as a proof of the very beautiful Indo-European-Nawabi architectural style by the River Gomti.

4. Imambara - The congregation hall for Shia Muslims built by Muhammad Ali Shah, the third Nawab of Awadh in 1838, served as his own mausoleum and his mother, who is buried beside him is the Chota Imambara. It has five main doorways. It is also knows as the Imambara Hussainabad Mubarak.

3. Bhulbhulaiya - Bara Imambara or the bhulbulaya is one of the grandest building in Lucknow. Built by Asaf-Ud-Daula, the nawab of Awadh in 1784, also includes a mosque, a   bowli and a step well that still has water. The bhulbulaya is where you could get lost without help!

2. Chikankari - The traditional embroidery of Luckow, Chikan cannot be left ignored if one is there. Believed to have been worn by Nur Jahan, the wife of Jehangir, these exquisite designs can impress anyone!

1. Kebabs - one cannot miss this awadhi cuisine! Kebabs, specially Tundey Kebabs made with Minced meat and 160 spices is just too delectable to avoid!!
